Who are the Malik Twins?

Tashi and Nungshi Malik are identical twin sisters originally from Haryana, India, now based in New Zealand. Raised by Retired Colonel Virender Singh Malik and Anjoo Thapa to challenge restrictive expectations of girls, they discovered mountaineering at age 18 and trained at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering. On 19 May 2013 they became the first female twins to summit Mount Everest, earning a Guinness World Record. They went on to become the first twins and siblings to complete the Seven Summits and Explorers Grand Slam, the youngest ever to complete the Three Poles Challenge, and the first South Asians to compete in the World's Toughest Race: Eco-Challenge Fiji. They are Edmund Hillary Fellows and recipients of India's Nari Shakti Puraskar and Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award.
