Mark Inglis ONZM is one of New Zealand's most respected adventurers and motivational speakers. The first double amputee in the world to summit Mount Everest, his message — "attitude determines your altitude" — has resonated with audiences from boardrooms to schools across NZ, Australia and beyond.
Who is Mark Inglis?
Mark grew up in Geraldine, South Canterbury, and began work as a search-and-rescue mountaineer at Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park in 1979. In November 1982, he and climbing partner Phil Doole were trapped in an ice cave on Mt Cook for 13 days during a brutal blizzard. Both lost their legs below the knee to frostbite. Mark was 23.
